Engineering Resiliency in a Changing Climate
June 3 - 6, 2018

Geohazards 7 Field Trip

The Geohazards 7 field trip (included in the full delegate registration price) will form an integral part of the conference program and will focus on landslides, snow avalanches, and steep creek processes in the Canmore area.

Date: Tuesday June 5, 2018
Departure/return time (from/to) the Coast Canmore Hotel: 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM
Cost: Included in the full delegate registration price

In June 2013, Canmore and the adjacent Municipal District of Bighorn suffered the worst hydroclimatic event in their history. Tens of millions of dollars of damages resulted from debris flows, debris floods, flooding and bank erosion.

Participants will learn about the June 2013 event, subsequent hazard and quantitative risk assessments, mitigation approaches, and the evolution of risk management policy, while visiting locations where geohazard mitigation measures are actively under construction.
